About the Artist

I explore the relationship between light and shadow through my paint brushes. Painting is my way to remember the tender moments of life – the morning light on my breastfeeding baby’s forehead, the long shadows of my grandparents walking hand in hand, the reflected light on a craftsman’s glasses under a reading lamp. I capture them on my canvas in the hope that they can reignite joy and warmth in days of trials and despair.

I specialize in portraiture and focus on the emotions that transmit among my subjects. I paint scenes that touch me, with unposed real life people doing seemingly mundane things. I also enjoy still life painting, with small day to day objects that convey a sense of “rignt-now-ness”.

I work out of my home studio in Westchester, NY, surrounded by my cat, my dog, and my little baby, who often show up in my paintings. In my other life, I am an Economist/ Data Scientist. I received my PhD in Economics from Cornell in 2019. You can read about my research here.
